Step into a realm of enchantment and wonder as Johnny Nuriel, the esteemed Minister of Magic, weaves his spellbinding touch to host the much-anticipated Witches Ball of the West. With his mastery over the arcane arts and an unparalleled flair for the extraordinary, Johnny Nuriel conjures a mystical space where magic and delight converge in a breathtaking display.
DARK GODDESS ALTAR
Every year our Altar becomes even more elaborate and potent to engage with. All are welcome to steep in the magic of our annual living shrine. Bring your petitions and offerings to honor the Dark Goddess enthroned and exalted within our sanctuary space.
This year's altar will be dedicated to ERESHKIGAL Queen of the underworld. Brought to you by the House of Artemis.
ENTHEA TEA LOUNGE
We are honored to co-create with Enthea Teahouse for this year’s Witches Ball in the grand balcony of the NOVA PDX! Enthea Teahouse is a local tea house that serves and sells Gongfu Tea sourced directly from multigenerational farmers in China. The teahouse itself is open Wednesdays through Sundays with special weekly gatherings and monthly Enthea After Dark community events with live music.
At this year’s Witches Ball of the West, we invite you to sit with us over tea in our curated vintage lounge, share space and stories, and be in presence of the magic of gongfu.
ENTER THE REGALIA COMPETITION
1st Place wins $100 and a Talismanic Award
This is not a “costume” contest.
We are judging based on *regalia* meaning gowns, crowns, scepters, robes, capes, hats, horns, wings, hooves, wands, and a portrayal of your most elevated SORCEROUS self. The REAL you in your most empowered state.
Elements of fantasy are encouraged, though final decisions will be geared towards regality, unique authenticity, and detail.
At 10:45 all who wish to enter will be welcomed on stage for the competition which will take place just before the midnight ritual.

A HISTORIC VENUE
NOVA PDX is the oldest continuously operating Music & Dance Hall in Portland, Oregon. The venue has hosted concerts and events for subculture and arts communities since 1907.
They remain a vital hub for our arts community stakeholders who welcome and celebrate all the underground arts, and any performance that elevates creativity. The metal heads, punks, working class, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, contrarians and artists: They continually strive to welcome everyone, and for them to have an amazing experience while enjoying the ballroom.
The NOVA is an 11,000 square foot historic venue with a 650 person capacity. The ballroom stage overlooks a 2,000 square foot dance floor with 25 foot high ceilings.
The Balcony Level revives the Old Portland speakeasy feel with a small stage, excellent view of the main ballroom floor and the main stage, which hosts the VIP and only guaranteed seating at the Witches Ball of the West.
